Named after Rev. Dr. Wesley Grant, Sr., a prominent leader in Asheville’s African American community, the grand opening of the Southside Center was met with eager anticipation from the entire community. After years of collaborative neighborhood input and meticulous planning, the 15-month construction project successfully concluded in August 2023 marking a significant milestone as the first new public pool in the city since 1970.
Featuring a variety of our pool deck equipment, Cisco Grab Rails , 3-Bend Custom Hand Rails, were installed along with our Harmsco® Portable Pump which is the perfect economical solution for mid-sized pools. Mendota Lifeguard Chairs are positioned around the pool and play area, while our popular Motion Trek BP 400 ADA Pool Lift has been installed ensuring ADA compliance and keeping the pool area accessible to everyone.
Additionally, two of our recreational Jamma! Jr. Poolside Basketball Hoops were installed creating a water basketball court for hours of entertainment.
The Southside Center creates a rejuvenating experience for everyone who visits. Moreover, the pool's layout is designed to accommodate the community's passion for water aerobics classes, making it a vibrant hub of fitness and enjoyment.
