Following months of dedicated effort, Shawnee County Parks and Recreation was thrilled to announce the grand opening of the Oakland Pool to the public on Saturday, August 24th. The unveiling featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a special weekend of swimming before the pool was promptly drained and winterized, awaiting its full opening in the summer of 2025.

 Parks and Recreation Director Tim Laurent said his department heard from residents in the area through a survey to learn what they wanted to see at the new pool.... 

"They really came out in droves. They let us know what they wanted, and then we took those ideas and tried to create what we think is going to be a great amenity to this community.”

The new facility features an array of amenities, including dedicated swimming lanes, an area for children, a double flume poolside slide, a lazy river, a diving well, and zero-depth entry. The completion of this project required an investment of almost $4 million for the county.

Oakland has enhanced its aquatic experience with the installation of the Slamma! Poolside Basketball Hoop and Custom 1M Cheyenne Dive Stand bringing additional layers of fun and excitement to patrons. Our Custom 3 and 5 Step Ladders, Mendota Lifeguard Chairs, Horizon BP350 Long Reach ADA Pool Chair Lift, and Custom Stainless Steel Hand and Stair Rails ensure that the pool remains accessible and ADA-compliant for all visitors.
