FAQs: Discontinuing the Xcellerator® and Record Breaker Starting Blocks
As Spectrum Aquatics moves forward with the next generation of our starting block lineup, the Xcellerator® and Record Breaker Starting Blocks will be discontinued.
While these models will no longer be available, our commitment to the facilities that rely on them is not changing.
As facilities begin planning for future projects, additions, or upgrades, Dash and Sprint with Rapid Lock™ will carry forward the trusted performance of the Xcellerator and Record Breaker with updated designs, greater flexibility, and a path forward for the evolving needs of aquatic facilities and swimmers.

Do I need to replace my existing Xcellerator or Record Breaker starting blocks?
No. If your existing starting blocks are in good condition and performing as intended, you can continue to use them. The discontinuation of Xcellerator and Record Breaker does not mean functioning equipment needs to be replaced.
Will Spectrum continue to service Xcellerator and Record Breaker starting blocks?
Yes. Spectrum will continue to support existing Xcellerator and Record Breaker starting blocks with service, maintenance assistance, technical support, and replacement parts.
Our goal is to help facilities get the long-term performance they expect from their Spectrum equipment, even after a model is no longer offered for new orders.
Will replacement parts still be available?
Yes. Replacement parts for Xcellerator and Record Breaker starting blocks will continue to be available.
If you are unsure which replacement part you need, the Spectrum team can help identify the correct component for your existing block.
Is my existing Xcellerator or Record Breaker warranty still valid?
Yes. Existing warranties will continue to be honored in accordance with Spectrum Aquatics' warranty terms. Discontinuing a product does not cancel or change an existing warranty.
I have Xcellerator or Record Breaker specified for an upcoming project. What should I do?
Contact your Spectrum Aquatics Regional Sales Representative. Our team can review your project, timeline, specifications, and installation requirements and help determine the appropriate action.
Can my existing starting block be upgraded instead of replaced?
Possibly. Every installation is different, and Spectrum can evaluate your existing starting blocks and installation to determine whether upgrade or retrofit options are available.
Will Dash or Sprint fit my existing anchors?
In many cases, existing Spectrum anchors may be able to accommodate a Dash or Sprint starting block. However, compatibility depends on several factors, including the existing anchor, starting block configuration, anchor setback, deck-to-water height, and facility conditions.
Spectrum can review your current installation and help determine the best solution for transitioning to Dash or Sprint, including retrofit options that may allow you to continue using your existing anchors.
What if I want all my starting blocks to match and only need one more?
We understand that maintaining a consistent row of starting blocks can be important for both facility appearance and swimmer experience.

Dash Replaces the Record Breaker
Dash is the direct replacement for the Record Breaker Starting Block, carrying forward the dependable performance facilities have relied on with a modern design. Dash features the same 24" x 32" platform size as the Record Breaker, providing swimmers with the familiar, spacious starting surface while giving facilities an upgradeable solution designed to grow with their program. Just like the Record Breaker could upgrade to the Xcellerator, Dash can also be upgraded to Sprint.
Sprint with Rapid Lock™ Replaces the Xcellerator
Sprint with Rapid Lock™ is the direct replacement for the Xcellerator, building on its competition-focused performance with updated engineering and Spectrum’s innovative Rapid Lock™ track-start wedge. Sprint features the same 24" x 32" platform size as the Xcellerator, while introducing a simpler, more modern wedge adjustment system designed for greater flexibility, reliability, and performance. It provides facilities and competitive swimmers with the next generation of Spectrum’s premium starting block.

The Xcellerator and Record Breaker have been an important part of Spectrum Aquatics' starting block lineup, and discontinuing these models does not mean discontinuing our support for the facilities that use them.
